Welcome to the International CTIA WIRELESS I.T. & Entertainment 2009® Show Coverage site! The industry’s largest wireless data event has come to a close, but it was an exciting week in sunny San Diego. An all-star cast of keynote speakers shared valuable insights into the dynamic world of wireless. Hundreds of show floor exhibits showcased the latest and greatest mobile business innovations, and numerous thought-provoking educational sessions and special interest seminars examined key industry issues and trends, such as mobile health, smart energy and intelligent transportation.

The impressive speaker line-up included: FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski; AT&T Mobility President & CEO Ralph de la Vega; Yahoo! Mobile Senior Vice President David Ko; and San Diego Gas & Electric and Southern California Gas Company CIO and Senior Vice President Chris Baker. CTIA President and CEO Steve Largent also announced the results of the Association’s semi-annual wireless industry survey, which revealed tremendous growth in wireless data.
In addition, AT&T Mobility President & CEO Ralph de la Vega, T-Mobile USA President & CEO Robert Dotson, Sprint CEO Dan Hesse, and Verizon Wireless President & CEO Lowell McAdam joined Steve and One Economy Corporation CEO Rey Ramsey on the keynote stage to announce a new partnership that will help empower and equip low-income Americans with greater opportunity through the use of wireless broadband technology.
Day One also featured a wide variety of CTIA Educational Sessions. These comprehensive, in-depth sessions are broken into six different "tracks" or categories: Mobile Applications, Mobile Healthcare, Mobile Business, Mobile Media & Content, Critical Infrastructure, and State & Federal Public Policy.
Some of today’s “don’t miss” sessions included: Transportation - Public and Corporate Fleets, Telemedicine - Mobile Technologies Bring Patients and Healthcare Providers Together, Remote Monitoring & Diagnostics via Wireless, and AARP Session on Living vs. Aging.

Dr. Irwin Jacobs, Co-Founder of Qualcomm Incorporated, and his son Dr. Paul Jacobs, Chairman of the Board & CEO of Qualcomm Incorporated, delivered a unique joint keynote addressing the many ways mobile broadband is bridging the digital and physical worlds and transforming other sectors, such as healthcare. In addition, AT&T Chief Technology Officer John Donovan discussed AT&T’s network evolution strategy.
CTIA’s Steve Largent also announced the results of a study on mHealth in America conducted by Harris Interactive.

CTIA Fund Fest makes its debut on the final day of this year’s show to spotlight the brightest, most innovative, and promising companies in wireless from keynote stage. CTIA Fund Fest is an opportunity for budding entrepreneurs to launch their brilliant idea into the wireless marketplace in front of an investor panel of judges and a live keynote audience.
Show attendees will also have their last chance to check out the amazing exhibits on the show floor and experience all that wireless data has to offer.
